Bay Farm School PTSA provides generous support for both off-site and in-house field trips for every grade. These include visits to Roberts Regional Park for Grade 2, The California Academy of Sciences for Grade 3, and The Exploratorium for Grade 5, as well as visits from The Junior Center of Ats & Science, Lawrence Hall of Science, The San Francisco Zoomobile, The San Francisco Opera Guild, and many more.
Overnight Education Trips
Our fourth-grade students attend Gold Rush camp for 3 days. The Coloma Outdoor Discovery School's California Gold Rush program is designed for fourth graders and integrates California Content and Common Core Standards. CODS' goal is to celebrate the culture, music, and folklore of the California Gold Rush while using lessons of the past to awaken students' interest and sense of responsibility for the environment.
Each year the Fifth-Grade class embarks on a 3 day and 2 night Science exploration at the Marin Headlands. Nature Bridge is a world-renowned Science School that uses an inquiry based model to deliver a myriad of experiences to kids of all ages. Our students spend three days hiking while they learn about the complex system that is the San Francisco Bay watershed. They participate in team building challenges, a campfire, a night hike and test the local ecosystem’s health by studying pond biology. The highlight of the trip is always the hike to the Point Bonita Lighthouse where they can see first-hand how the California watershed drains into the Pacific Ocean. An additional perk is the copious World War I and II batteries that line the coast. History and Science present themselves in real life experiences that cannot be replicated within the four walls of a classroom.
