Field Trips for Students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Annual PTSA donations partially or fully support student participation in a variety of field trips. Field trips enrich and expand classroom curriculum, strengthen student’s observation skills with hands-on experiences, increase student’s understanding of particular subject areas, and expand student’s awareness of their own community.
In-House and Day Field Trips
Our youngest students experience a variety of field trips on campus or during the school day. Past field trips have included: Safety-town for our kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd grade trips to Redwood Regional Park, 3rd grade trips to the California Academy of Sciences and the Alameda Amazing Race, exploring the Exploratorium with the 5th graders, and much more.
Overnight Field Trips
Older students have opportunities to spend extra-time off-campus, learning independence, and exploring new experiences.
3 day and 2 night Gold Rush Camp. The Coloma Outdoor Discovery School’s California Gold Rush program is designed for fourth graders and integrates California Content and Common Core Standards. CODS’ goal is to celebrate the culture, music, and folklore of the California Gold Rush while using lessons of the past to awaken students’ interest and sense of responsibility for the environment.
3 day and 2 night Science exploration at the Marin Headlands. Nature Bridge is a world-renowned Science School that uses an inquiry based model to teach students about the San Francisco Bay watershed and visit World War I and II batteries lining the coast. History and Science present themselves in real life experiences that cannot be replicated within the four walls of a classroom.
Mother Lode River Center camp for 3 days. Our newest middle schoolers bond as a group while they navigate ropes courses, develop leadership skills, and have a blast! The motto is “Challenge Plus One”! The goal is taking yourself out of your comfort zone, even just a little bit, on the course and working with your classmates!
Our seventh-grade students get to visit and explore the Natural wonders of Yosemite!
